Who am I?...

resume

From Bombay  to Minneapolis...

I was born in Mumbai, India. For those who know their way around, I schooled in New English School, Government Colony Bandra East, attended Ruparel College, Matunga and then graduated from D.J.Sanghvi College of Engineering, Vile Parle, with a Chemical Engineering degree. After that, I dabbled in chaos and process control at the Chaos Research Group, University of Tennessee-Knoxville  USA; played with bubbles at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and then joined a startup ieWild, in San Diego.

..taming the Wall Street Bull....

... am in analytic consulting...

Not bad for starters. Then our fledging startup got sued by HNC Software leading to the ieWild team joining Fair Isaac. A few months later, HNC settled ieWild's lawsuit. Weeks later, HNC "merged" with Fair Isaac under the Fair Isaac banner. Viva corporate America!!

Currently I am in financial services consulting as an Analytic Consulting-Consultant in the Product Development and Analytics group at Fair, Isaac & Co. Inc. Resume here.

My passion for life...
Given-up-looking-serious-pictureBy nature I consider myself to be a very enthusiastic person (though an intermittent site-specific extrovert). Friends call me energetic, not-so-friendly friends call me over committed... I deny nothing!

..an intermittent site-specific extrovert...

I believe that life is only as interesting as one makes it.And so I certainly am not sparing any effort!!!! I have a whole lot of hobbies which I actively pursue and devote a significant portion of my life to. Life has infinite facets and one can do anything, provided one has the imagination and motivation.

I just love music!!! Especially Indian classical and film music. I am an enthusiastic bathroom singer and have harrowed my former room-mate no end with my early morning sessions!!!

Modification, Identification And Control Of Chaotic Bubbling With Electrostatic Potential

In all chaos there is a cosmos, in all disorder a secret order

-Carl Jung

Effervescence and bubbling have always been thought of as one of the simple phenomena, which make life interesting to look at.

...beneath this innocuous visage lies a system so complex...

But beneath this innocuous visage lies a system so complex that the last decade has produced a flurry of papers investigating the interplay of bubbles. From numerical modeling of bubbles to studying the effect of sounds of bubble formation, numerous research thrusts have been made to try and capture this phenomenon in its entirety... read more

July , 2002 - October, 2002 :  I volunteered with the Nature Conservancy as a free lance photojournalist. More pictures coming up soon. Check out nature.org

I am a photography enthusiast and I an very serious about it. Though I am an amateur, I hope to turn pro (after 10years???),  and publish a book. This is one of my dreams!!!  I own a Canon 1n, 50mm 1.4 USM, 85mm 1.8 USM, 28mm 2.8 EF and also a  Pentax MZ-50 with a 35-80mm, f4-5.6 zoom, and a f2 standard 50mm. When I went to India in January 2003,  I was almost on the verge of buying studio lights (2 x 250W Elinchromes), but was convinced by my dealer  to buy them in US. I rue the decision.

I try my hand at being a vocalist (to the rile of everybody around me), from time to time. Here is a clip from 'Breathless' by Shankar Mahadevan (But sung by me... with apologies to him). I have only a clip here because UT offers me a measly 2MB of webspace.

My research...

more

(January 1999-June 2000)

This was what I did in grad school

My odyssey began with a core chemical engineering research topic, and with successive bifurcations through chaos, non-linear time series analysis, multi-variate statistical process control and finally applied artificial intelligence.

Playing with bubbles is much more interesting than you can imagine!!! ;-)

..and finally applied artificial intelligence.

My project involves working at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. I am presently working with Dr.David DePaoli with the Chemcial Technology Division. At The University of Tennessee I am working with Prof.Duane D. Bruns with the Chaos Research Group.
